Mail backup

Instead of backing up your mail client in order to save important messages, Handy Backup allows you to back up your mail messages directly from the mail server. You can use this method if you don't have a mail client installed on your computer and you send and receive your mail via web browser.

Messages on the remote server can be lost just as easily as on your local computer so it would be a good idea to back them up and prevent important data loss. With the mail backup feature of Handy Backup, you no longer have to worry about safety of your mail. Back it up regularly, and be sure it is not gone because of some human or hardware error.

Advantages of Backing up Mail from the Mail Server

• If you back up your mail messages directly from the mail server, you will be able to open them with any mail client because the format (eml) of the backed up messages is supported by all mail clients
• Backup setup is extremely easy - you only need to specify your server, login and password
• Handy Backup will check the settings of your mail server and tell you if they are correct or not
• You don't have to download the web page of your mail service. Instead, you can back up messages to a local computer and read them in the offline mode.

Restrictions

You can only back up mail from the mail server that has POP3 support, You cannot restore the messages back to the server. However, messages with all attachments can be accessed with any e-mail client installed on the computer such as MS Outlook, The Bat and so on.

But in the future Handy Backup users will be able to back up data kept on mail servers using IMAP protocol. Moreover there will be an opportunity to restore data back to the mail box.

Note: We do not support MSN and Hotmail backup as they both use HTTP. However, we can provide a backup feature for Gmail (Google mail) and Yahoo mail which use TLS (port 995).
