Iomega Corporation
The Iomega Corporation , is a supplier of portable computer storage devices and media. The corporation, established in 1980, has 208 employees in more than one country. Iomega is headquartered in San Diego, California, with other offices in Utah, Singapore, and Switzerland. Their best-known products are removable disk storage systems: the Zip and Jaz drives .
Zip drive is a medium-capacity removable disk storage system, introduced in late 1994. Originally it had a capacity of 100 MB, but later versions increased this to first 250 MB and then 750 MB. Jaz drive initially came in 1 and 2 GB sizes, which were a significant increase over Iomega's most popular product at the time, the Zip drive. Unlike the Zip, which used floppy disk technology, the Jaz was based on hard disk drive technology. Essentially it was two hard disk platters in a removable enclosure, with the motors and heads in the fixed drive.
