Restore Exchange server
Basically, restoration of Microsoft Exchange server is a procedure of using backed up copy of MS Exchange Server data for restoration of Exchange database and configuration of MS Exchange Server. One can restore Exchange server for restoration of one or several damaged mailbox stores or public folder stores, or a complete server rebuilding.
Therefore there are several reasons why one may want to restore his Exchange server from a backup. Firstly, it can be done for migrating from one MS Exchange Server to another (for example, from a remote Exchange Server to a local one). And secondly, it can be a rollback to a previous state of Exchange database if something happened to it, e.g. some data was accidentally modified or deleted.
