Synchronization Software

Synchronization software is a type of computer applications designed to help users keep two locations in sync. Unlike manual synchronization, specialized data sync software usually has a number of options that allow making this task easy and effective.

Generally, there are two types of synchronization:

• One-way synchronization, i.e. taking files from one folder and copying them to another one, based on a certain rule. This approach is primarily used for backup purposes.
• Two-way synchronization, or mirroring. Some synchronization software supports folder mirroring, which implies that data can be changed in both places, and the user needs to have all data in both locations.

Unlike most data backup and syncing tools, Handy Backup supports both of the above methods, and can synchronize files and folders over LAN or FTP. With the mirroring option enabled, the utility lets you specify which files have higher priorities: you can replace older files with the newer ones, replace smaller with bigger, etc.
