Daily Backup

Daily backup is a necessity when it comes to backing up information that is constantly in change. There are certain types of data losing the smallest parts of which may lead to significant losses: e.g. a corporate e-mail server, a customer database, or a photo album (yes, good nerves shouldn’t be underestimated too!) The idea is simple: the more valuable the data, the more frequent backups are required. To optimize daily backups and make data retention plans more cost-effective, we’ve included into Handy Backup the technologies of incremental and differential backup.

Differential/incremental backup technologies allow you to reduce the amount of disk space required to store backups. Enabled, they save only the most recent changes that took place during the day, rather than backing up the entire data set, greatly saving your time and storage costs.

Here are several examples of how you can use Handy Backup in different environments:

• In enterprises, it is recommended to make daily differential backups of Exchange Servers: one the one hand, corporate correspondence is one of the most valuable things in any company, and on the other hand, most Exchange stores contain gigabytes of data, so it is wise to reduce storage costs. It is also wise to enable backup encryption and protect the data from unauthorized access.
• In small or home office environment, it is commonly best to back up My Documents folder (as it contains most files we work with on a regular basis), scheduling the task to run once a day and enabling file-level incremental backup.
