August 12, 2011 We are happy to announce the release of Handy Backup 6.9.6! - The new version features two new plug-ins that allow backing up 64-bit versions of Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL Servers:
To use new plug-ins, you need to download and install Handy Backup Workstation x64, a special module that lets you back up data of 64-bit applications. - The MySQL Backup plug-in now works correctly when names of databases or tables start with digits, or contain special symbols.
- Other improvements include updates to the FTP backup client, user interface, and much more.

To back up MySQL, you need to click MySQL in the list and create a connection. Please read detailed description of MySQL Backup... - Folder Lock. We have added a new option to "lock" folders selected for backup, which prevents new child objects from being backed up.
When you "lock" the folder, new objects that appear in it will not be backed up, i.e. the backup will be limited only to elements you selected during task creation. Merry Easter! March 31, 2011 We are glad to announce the release of Handy Backup 6.9.4. The new version has a bunch of new features aimed at helping administrators to deploy the program over a Windows network in a smooth and comfortable way. - Automatic Registration. The installation package (handybackup_setup.msi) can now be launched with the REGISTRATION_KEY parameter which automatically registers the program on the first startup. The usage is as follows:
msiexec /i "handybackup_setup.msi" REGISTRATION_KEY="XXXXXXXXX"
(put your registration number inside the quotes) - Silent Installation. There is a new option of quiet installation that doesn’t display any setup dialogs, silently installing the program to the default place. To use it, simply add /quite as an MSI parameter:
msiexec /i "handybackup_setup.msi" /quite - Logging. To track errors during silent installation (or for any other administration purposes), you can now turn on event logging through the use of the /log parameter. The usage is as follows:
msiexec /i "handybackup_setup.msi" /log install.log - Remote Installation. Backup software can now be installed remotely over Active Directory, by creating and applying the respective Group Policy on a network.

We hope that these four features will let administrators have a better experience with setting up network backup plans! - Several users have reported that the option to delete unnecessary files during restoration (see Advanced Restore Settings for details) didn't work correctly. This problem has been fixed now.

To create sample tasks, simply check the respective option during the installation. - The Documents Backup plug-in now works more correctly when changing paths of Windows User Folders (i.e. Music, Documents, Pictures and other).

February 15, 2011 We are happy to announce the release 6.9.2 featuring multiple improvements and new options that open up a range of great possibilities! - Task type in the Task View window has been replaced with a button that instantly launches the respective task:
Now that's a real one-click backing up! - A range of improvements has been made to the Oracle Backup plug-in which now works faster and more correctly. Earlier, restoration of an Oracle database to a different server could result in an incorrect performance (if the new server's environment differed from the original one). Now this issue has been resolved.
