Oracle 11g
What Is New Comparing to Oracle 9i And Oracle 10g
A significant improve over Oracle 9i version, an 11g version of popular Oracle database engine has only some minor changes when compared to previous Oracle 10g version. Changes apply first in an area of business processes automation, such as automated storage load balancing and automatic diagnostic repository.
However, the internal structure of Oracle 11g was tuned up to perfect, with all these relatively minor changes and enhancements seriously increased the reliability and performance of an entire database engine.
Oracle 11g Backup and Restoration Functionality
Oracle 11g uses RMAN standard Oracle backup software for native backup operations. The basic functionality of this program was untouched. The greatest change in RMAN features provided by 11th version is a possibility of bypassing undo tables, taking a lot of space and time for backup performing.
Other differences are enhanced integration with some Oracle 11g native control and service tools, increased overall speed of backup processes and the possibility of backing up the read-only transportable tablespaces.
