Handy Backup Disaster Recovery - System Recovery Drive Software

Handy Backup™ Disaster Recovery lets you back up and restore data independently of your main operating system. If your computer fails, you can instantly load from a recovery drive and restore your data either to the original hard drive, or to a different place.

Recovery flash is created from Handy Backup.

Users of Handy Backup Home Professional and above, can use their registration number to register Disaster Recovery as well. If you want, you can use it as an individual program.

Handy Backup Disaster Recovery features:

  • Windows-style Interface. Unlike most other disaster recovery software, Handy Backup Disaster Recovery has a very understandable and friendly user interface that doesn’t require any specific knowledge or skills.
  • Operating System Backup. Since the computer is started from a recovery drive, you can easily back up and restore your main system HDD, as if it was a "cold" external media. This lets you back up system data, boot records and other information that is locked when you run your PC normally.
  • Selective Hard Disk Backup. You can either create a complete disk image, or back up any partition of your choice.
  • Compatibility with Windows Backups. Handy Backup Disaster Recovery can read image backups created by Windows version of the program.

Bootable Disaster Recovery

  • Handy Backup Disaster Recovery is installed on a Flash or USB drive, and allows backing up your main HDD independently of its operating system.
  • Booting up the system from an external recovery drive enables you to overcome a difficulty of backing up system sectors locked by Windows.

Easy Backup

  • Comprehensible task-based interface
  • Windows-style operations
  • Logging of all operations
  • Detailed help
  • Free support by e-mail, Skype or phone

Extensibility

  • Designed with extensibility in mind, Handy Backup Disaster Recovery shares all concepts and techniques employed in the original Handy Backup (Windows version).
  • It has a similar task-based, plug-in-driven architecture, where all backup and restore operations are initiated by creating and running the respective tasks.
  • The program is compatible with image-based backups created in Windows, but not with tasks.

Multiplatform Backup Solution

  • Handy Backup Disaster Recovery is a branch of Novosoft’s Handy Backup Java project, which aims at creating a platform-independent backup solution that can run on all systems supporting the Java software, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Solaris and other.

How It Works

  • At first, you need to install Handy Backup Disaster Recovery on a Flash or USB drive. This is done with the help of Disaster Recovery Installation Kit.
  • Then, you need to configure BIOS boot order, so that USB drives are loaded in the first place. For instructions, please see Setting BIOS Boot Order in the User Manual.
  • When you load the system from the recovery drive, Handy Backup Disaster Recovery starts automatically. The welcome screen offers you to walk through a short overview and learn about main operations.
  • The program lets you create tasks of two types: Backup and Restore. To set up a task, you need to define two parameters: What to Back up (Restore) and Where to Back up (Restore). Then just run the task - and you’re done!

Data for Backup

Handy Backup Disaster Recovery shares the same architecture that we have in Windows version of Handy Backup. At present it comes with two plug-ins:

  • File-system backup. All hard drives connected to your computer are mounted automatically, which lets you back up individual files and folders.
  • Disk Image backup. You can create disk images of any local or external hard drives, or any specific partitions, regardless of their file system.

Backup storage

Data can be stored to the following places:

For details on using the program, see Managing Data with Handy Backup Disaster Recovery in the User Manual.

Full-featured 30-days Trial Period

The software comes with a full-featured 30-days trial period, during which you can try all of its features. The trial period starts when you create the first recovery drive with Disaster Recovery Installation Kit.

In an unregistered version, you can restore existing backups, but no new backups can be made. This means that you can recover your system after failure even if the program’s trial period has expired.

Licensing and Registration Options

Basically, Handy Backup Disaster Recovery is a standalone product that can be used independently of Windows version of Handy Backup. But since it makes a perfect fit for original Handy Backup, we’ve also included it into Windows editions, starting with Handy Backup Home Professional.

Ordering Handy Backup Disaster Recovery

We recommend you to purchase one of the following editions and use the registration number to register both Windows version of the program and Handy Backup Disaster Recovery:
