MySQL Backup with Handy Backup

MySQL backup is copying the databases to secure storage place in order to prevent their loss or corruption. Since the legendary version 6.9.5, Handy Backup features a special MySQL Backup plug-in which lets you back up data stored in one of the most popular database management systems used today.

Basically, Handy Backup provides two ways to back up a MySQL database:

• Special MySQL Backup plug-in lets you back up MySQL only, but works faster and delivers much more accurate results than backing up through the ODBC driver.

How to Back up MySQL Backup with Handy Backup

To back up a MySQL database, follow these steps:

1. Create a new backup task.
2. When selecting data for backup, click MySQL.

3. Click Settings. The MySQL connections window opens.

4. Click Add to create a new connection.
5. Name the connection, and then specify Host, Port (if necessary), User and Password used to connecto to the database.
6. Click OK.
7. Click the "plus" sign (+) near MySQL to expand the tree view. The list of MySQL connections appears.

8. To back up specific tables, click the "plus" sign (+) near the connection name, to initiate the connection and load the list of available tables.

Important note: Current version of Handy Backup does not display any error messages at this stage. If you are sure that the user/password is correct, but the MySQL connection doesn’t seem to expand, launch the task to see the error:
