Handy Backup Software for Windows

Dear customers! Let us present a newest Handy Backup 7.9.1, introducing some improvements to internal functions and data exchanging algorithms. These improvements do not change the program interface by a single bit; however, any of renewed functions adds to the stability, effectiveness and convenience of generic and specialized data backup!

Crucial Features of Handy Backup

Handy Backup is the mighty, cross-platform backup solution, which has a capability to back up and restore any data type, as well as to synchronize two folders on single or different computers. The three main groups of features supported by Handy Backup are data plug-ins, storage plug-ins and internal functions.

Data Plug-ins

Handy Backup can automatically save copies of any common data types, including:

  • Files and folders (with an option of including or excluding objects from a backup list by a mask of file name and/or by attributes);
  • Databases (backup MySQL, MS SQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, IBM DB2 and generic ODBC-driven database);
  • Virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox and other), with an option for backing up entire servers and arrays of these machines;
  • Drive and partition images;
  • Backup FTP servers, including protected SFTP and FTPS connections;
  • Websites (both static and dynamic content), using FTP and database plug-ins mentioned before, as well as CMS data;
  • Content of cloud accounts, including such clouds as Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Amazon S3 and Google Drive backup;
  • WebDAV-based cloud accounts, either private or commercial;
  • Specialized data types (Windows libraries, registry etc.).

The quantity of storage plug-ins available “out of the box” depends entirely from the edition of Handy Backup purchased by a particular user. In addition, you can purchase the plug-ins that you need directly, adding to your current edition of Handy Backup.

Storage Plug-ins

To save backup data in safety, Handy Backup contains many storage options:

  • Local drives and folders;
  • USB devices such as flash pen drives and external disks (with an option for starting a task when you plug a USB device related to this particular task to a PC);
  • Mapped and shared network drives, NAS devices;
  • CD/DVD (for 32-bit editions only!);
  • FTP, SFTP and FTPS data storage servers;
  • Cloud services, either commercial (such as Amazon S3 or Box) or private (OwnCloud);
  • The dedicated backup cloud service – HBDrive.

As for data plug-ins, the availability of storage plug-ins depends completely from your purchased edition of Handy Backup.

Internal Functions

These functions are available for all editions of Handy Backup. The list of options includes:

  • Partial backup (incremental, differential and mixed full/differential cycle);
  • Storing some versions of the same backup set, with an option of time-stamping backups;
  • Built-in ZIP compression and 128-bit BlowFish encryption of backup files;
  • Scheduling tasks by an exact time or by a system event (logon/logoff, inserting a USB drive);
  • Running other programs before and/or after a task;
  • Starting tasks in a service mode (without an active interface) to minimize distractions;
  • Reporting and logging task activities by email or directly from the dedicated window.


Handy Backup has a full compatibility with any modern edition of Windows, including Windows 10, Windows 8.1 (Windows 8), Windows 7 and Windows Vista, as well as with server editions – Windows Server 2016, 2012/2012R2 and 2008/2008R2.

It is also compatible in native mode (with an exception of interface component, which requires Wine) with a Debian-based versions of Linux, including Ubuntu and Linux Mint.
